We look forward to welcoming you to our wedding celebration in Qian's hometown of Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, renowned for its laid-back vibes, fiery cuisine, alternative creative scene and of course, pandas.
Recommendations for things to do in Chengdu - and for those exploring more of China - will follow.
The celebration will begin on Saturday evening and continue on Sunday with the wedding day. A detailed schedule will be shared with the formal invitation.
For your stay, there are many great options in the city centre (Chunxi Road / Taikooli). We would recommend The Upper House (from £250 per night), Niccolo Chengdu (from £150 per night) and Atour S Hotel Taikoo Li (from £60 per night; bookings open 4 months in advance). Note transport will be arranged from these hotels.
Chengdu is served by Tianfu International Airport (TFU), with additional domestic connections via Shuangliu (CTU). Direct flights operate several times per week from London, Vienna, Frankfurt, as well as other European cities.
We recommend booking flights early, as a number of airlines have already started to release schedules for spring 2027. Most direct flights are operated by Chinese carriers, so we recommend Trip.com, which is widely used for booking flights, trains, and other travel in China.
China is currently visa-free for many nationalities for short stays up to 30 days (incl. EU, UK and Brazilian passport holders). As regulations may change, we recommend checking the latest entry requirements based on your passport prior to travel.
